Aide

1. Introduction

Aide is a caregiving support application developed by Anish Gurusankar, Anuja Pandey, and the iOS Development Centre - SRMIST. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our elderly users ("Elders") and their designated caregivers ("Caregivers").

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide monitoring and safety features.

  • Account Information: Name and email address (via Google Login).
  • Location Data (Elders only): To provide the "Safe Zone" (geofencing) feature, we collect real-time location data. This may require "Always On" permissions to function in the background.
  • Medication Logs: Information regarding medication names, schedules (input by Caregivers), and consumption logs (input by Elders).
  • Device Status: We monitor the Elder’s device battery percentage to inform the Caregiver of potential connectivity loss.
  • Technical Data: Device model, OS version, and app usage statistics for performance monitoring.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To facilitate the "Safe Zone" geofencing alerts for Caregivers.
  • To sync medication schedules and logs between linked accounts.
  • To send SOS push notifications from Elders to Caregivers.
  • To notify Caregivers of low battery status on the Elder’s device.

We do not sell your data. All health and location data is stored securely on Firebase/Firestore.

4. Data Sharing

  • Data is shared strictly between the linked Elder and Caregiver accounts.
  • Location/Safe Zone status is visible to the Caregiver.
  • Medication logs are visible to the Caregiver.
  • We do not share data with third-party medical providers, insurance companies, or health platforms (like Apple HealthKit).

5. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Users can request account deletion by using the delete account button given in the app.
  • Upon deletion, all medication logs, location history, and account details are permanently removed from our servers.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard safeguards (SSL/TLS encryption) via Google Firebase. However, no system is 100% secure.

Users acknowledge that location accuracy depends on GPS and network availability.
